AKA-3 Christchurch and Antarctic Centre
If you are interested in the Antarctic programs, this is the only place that can get the real experience. My favourite was playing with husky and experiencing the snow and weather in Antarctic.

Fantastic informational and educational display of Antartica. Vivid explanation of features and animals located there. The snow tractor ride was most interesting and gives the true picture of travel across the snow and ice of the region. Personnel clearly explained the features and nature of the region. Consider it a must for anyone visiting Christchurch. As an added feature visitors should explore Christchurch to view its history, beauty and earthquake problems.

AKA-5 Willowbank Wildlife and City Tour
We had a wonderful time at this wildlife park. It was so well set out and you get to touch the animals and see them up close.The children loved feeding the animals and it was so interesting seeing all the different birds and New Zealand wildlife. I absolutely recommend the visit to this park.

I can not recommend this place highly enough. For $29 NZD you have access to meeting, patting and feeding a number of animals who are all gentle and extremely used to people. For an additional $30 NZD you can book half an hour with the lemurs and hand feed these gorgeous creatures. We saw three of the five kiwis in the park, more than Iâ€™ve ever seen at other parks. Well worth the visit!

Hadnâ€™t heard anything about the reserve before going and thought it was overpriced when we first arrived but boy were we wrong! Great value for money, lots of fun for the kids and us adults. Highly recommended to anyone with an afternoon spare. They have put so much effort into making it an immersive experience for all. Will definitely be booking in another visit soon!

AKA-6 4WD Scenic Nature Tour
My husband and I were met by Ben and another tour guide with two 8 person ATV vans. They accomodated two families with preschool age children as well as older people slower in their walking pace. We stopped at several places for viewing the scenery over the harbour as well as over the rugged mountains. The sheep ranch that housed the penguin habitat was very sweet and a model of pastoral tranquility. Ben gave a very thorough overview of the ecology from the beginning to current flora and fauna and issues that have developed as well as steps being taken to cure negative impacts. It was the perfect eco-tour. My husband and I arrived back in Akaroa in time to walk through this delightful village, have lunch, and post some cards to family.

This is a great way to see a great part of Akaroa when you are wondering how to make the most of your time there. Meet some locals, hear their story about how they set about trying to save the penguins and meet some penguins. We loved every minute, even though the penguins were no longer nesting. We went in March, really recommend it.

We were on a cruise ship and as arranged made contact with the company's representative at the end of the wharf to meet them at 12 noon. Our tour was the 4WD Scenic Nature Safari. The guide was a young woman from Minnesota who was passionate and informative about preservation of threatened species, and the efforts being made to protect the Pohatu Penguins and their habitat. The drive out to Flea Bay through farming country was in itself interesting and we stopped at various lookouts for photo opportunities including a diversion down Lighthouse Road to Haylocks Bay. If you choose to walk the last half kilometer be prepared for the steep return climb! We then rejoined the road to Flea Bay to arrive at the owner's house where sheep were hand fed before taking a short walk to see some of the 300 nesting boxes constructed to house the birds. We were able to see up close a bird in rehabilitation care and another still in its molting phase in a nesting box. (we knew we were not visiting in the optimum season to see many penguins). A very welcome afternoon tea followed then back to the cruise ship by the appointed time.

We had a great day with Shireen. This was more than just a tour. We saw a little bit of New Zealand, saw penguins and their nesting boxes, and even learned a little of the history of sheep farming in the area. Shireen's dedication and work to save the penguins of the area is very special. The tour also include muffins and beverages made by Shireen. Not to be missed experience.

One of the most beautiful tours we have ever been a part of. Going to the top of Misty Point and to the beautiful Flea Bay with Kevin was spectacular. The views and the story of how his company is protecting and increasing the number of the cute Little Penguins was wonderful. And, seeing these darling animals and feeding the sheep at the farm made for a perfect day. Thanks, Kevin.

The owners are very passionate to wildlife conserving, which is the most attractive part of this tour. This tour is one of the most scenic and perfect way to see Akaroa, specifically the Banks of Peninsula. Hence,what you can see is not just the sweet little town, but the adventure and the other side it could offer - understanding the endangered wild little penguins. I love the host, their effort to conserved the nature and wildlife. Thumb's up!

AKA-8 4WD Sea Kayaking Safari
The Pohatu reserve was certainly one of the best experience we had during our trip in New Zealand. Had we known better we would have chosen the Pohatu package, but we still got to do the sea kayaking tour and the evening penguin tour. Breathtaking, we loved it! Seals, penguins, dolphins, sheep... And a very nice and passionate staff, you'll be sure to go home not only with good memories but also with a better understanding of the life of these little creatures and of the amazing work they do to protect them.

Kayak tour guide, Rocky was delightful and very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna as well as The human cultural elements off the area. The kayaks were in good shape and the van rid was good. The high point was the geography and the white flippered-penguins and hector dolphins. This is a must see tour and can be handled by anyone with a basic ability to kayak. A1 rating.

Sorry for the lateness of my review, but I could not miss giving you guys a shout out. My husband and I had a blast kayaking with Ben searching for the hidden blue penguins. The bay was beautiful and calm and we got more excited with every discovery. The conservation work you are doing is amazing. We spent 2 weeks on the south island of NZ. This was our highlight! Amazing scenery. Best tour I've done to get up close with wildlife in a natural way. We saw blue penguins, seals and dolphins! Kevin was an excellent guide. Friendly and informative. The trip over to Pohatu was interesting as well...good to get away from the main part of Akaroa.

Ben picked us up at the wharf and took us on a breathtaking drive up through the hills down to flea bay. The scenery was amazing. We were shown the basics for kayaking and out into our vessels. The weather was perfect. We had new zealand fur seals come right up to our kayaks being very playful. Ben was a great host and the cup of coffee and sweet treats at the end just topped it off. Very well worth the money.

"Best day of holiday" We had a fantastic kayaking trip with Ben our guide in Flea Bay. Very relaxing but exciting at the same time-saw penguins, seals and lots of sea birds. Would recommend it to everyone.

AKA-9 Akaroa Dolphin Swim
We went out on the 8.30am Swim with Dolphins boat. Hannah was the skipper and Alister was the crewman. We cruised out past the Akaroa Heads, but found no Hector's Dolphins that wanted to play. On the way back we encountered some that came up to the boat, so we all quietly entered the water and waited for them to come back. Within 5 minutes the first group swam up to, around and through our group, coming within a metre of us. Then for the next 30 minutes we were entertained by various groups all coming to check us out. Alister took photos of the interaction from the boat, which can be purchased back at the wharf. After spending the maximum allowable time in the water with the dolphins, we were taken to a seal colony where there were many seal pups playing on the rocks. Then it was time to return to the dock. Great trip, excellent staff and equipment.

The Team at Black Cat - Sonya, Chris and Alister - made our day! they were helpful, informative and a very friendly and happy team! The whole experience from start to finish was exceptional, the quality of the wetsuits, facilities, info on how the trip would plan out, rules etc and info on the wildlife especially the dolphins was great. The experience in the water with the dolphins - which lasted approx. 45 min - was one we will never forget, they were swimming around us, through the group and were happy to be with us before they swam off, some even flipping and jumping...the wetsuits kept us amazingly buoyant and warm If you get a chance to do this excursion, do it! it will be one you remember for ever as a very special one indeed..... ps the hot chocolate and biscuits on the trip back to the harbour was just the best!

Went out today with Black cat cruises which was very very well run from start to finish. Firstly as the wind was up a bit today ( bit a sunny lovely day) all were given the option of rebooking or a refund as the water was choppy so it was great to have that option. Myself and my family -Husband and two girls Aged 13 and 17 decided to continue. Alistair our guide was very informative and attentive throughout the entire journey. Chris the driver was also a great host. Along the way we all had a laugh as we tried â€œspotting â€œ sea animals from shags to albatrosses to seals and possibly the odd penguin. Found some adorable wee hectors - such special creatures and so unique to NZ. We got in the water. Yes it was choppy bit very doable and we had a wee group of dolphins swimming up to us , Under us and Around us whilst Alistair and Chris spotted them from the boat for us. Chris and Alistair then took us close To a local fishing boat where back on the boat we watched them play behind the boat. We were all given hot Chocolate,Hand warmers and a bikkie on the way back as we pulled Into a marine reserve to watch the seals. Fabulous adventure and definitely recommend these guys for an unforgettable Adventure!

AKA-10 Dolphin Watching with AKA-9
We did the 2hr Nature Cruise with Black Cat earlier today and from start to finish it couldn't be faulted. The crew (pilot Kate and her two helpers) were friendly and informative throughout. We saw many dolphins once we hit the open sea plus seals, albatrosses and a penguin. The scenery is spectacular. Excellent value for the GrabOne 2 for 1 package we bought.

Well worth the trip. Our time flew by as we saw some penguins and then Hector's Dolphins close by the boat. Then seals basking on the way back. Whilst also learning about the coastline geology and views within the harbour. They do provide free tea/coffee but you can take your own on board. Just be careful when you drink as the boat can go very fast and if up on deck (best views) make sure your hat is tied on!

AKA-11 Akaroa Harbour Nature Cruise
Skipper Kate and crew Helen were soooo enthusiastic about what we might see....and they delivered! Do you guys pay the wildlife!!?? Kate was a great skipper with calm, interesting knowledge passed onto her flock ( Passengers!) via the on board intercom and Helen was equally helpful with pointing out wildlife if we missed Kates cue. The boat was extremely comfortable and well driven ( Thanks Kate!) and they made sure we saw Albatros, fur seals, penguins and dolphins...alas no Orca or Humpbacks. To note also the office crew were equally helpful when booking the cruise. Well done guys, keep up the good work...Paul from BOI

This was an amazing tour and great sites.There was great commentary as the tour went along. The scenery was amazing but the animals stole the show. We lucked out seeing the smallest dolphins to the largest amazing Orcas. There were several different birds and the seals were along the shore where we pulled up closer. Weather was wonderful and the staff were great .

Despite coming outside of peak season, they were willing to take us on an evening tour on the off chance that we got lucky. And we did! We managed to see a nesting blue penguin and a pair of yellow-eyed penguins as well. It was a magical and enlightening experience. We both learned a lot about the penguins and the ecological situation in New Zealand. All of the staff were extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating as well. Highly recommend a visit to support the important work this company is doing for preserving these beautiful animals!

If you want a glimpse into the lives of sheep and cattle farmers, check out this tour. Heather and Trevor were very nice and hospitable. I saw a sheepdog herding sheep, shearing, and got a history of wool production as well as of the area. Graham, our guide, provided bits of info on the drive there and answered questions both sheep and non-sheep related. A good time was had by all!

Really wonderful tour. We got to see with my wife an authentic sheep farm, the shearing of a sheep, a sheep dog working going out to gather and bring back about 12 sheep and putting them in a corner, all this done by a farmer only whistling at him. Unbelievable...Great experience too to top off the day!

AKL-12 Harbour Sailing Cruise
Getting to pilot a 80 foot sailboat was a blast! This excursion was booked for us and not one weâ€™d normally choose but canâ€™t say how thankful we were to have this experience. The crew was a delight and the way they encouraged us all to participate was very much appreciated. Getting a chance to pilot a 80 foot sailboat is a memory of a lifetime. Two hours went by like five minutes and it was unforgettable. Donâ€™t miss this one!

We had such a great time on this sailing trip. The whole crew (Pedro, Ludo, Justin and Saffron) were very knowledgeable about the boat and America's Cup sailing in general, they told us all about the technical parts of sailing and answered any questions we had. The weather got really tricky towards the end of our sail, a few large swells and a current that the boat just cannot handle so the crew was sure to keep us safe and turn into the dock when we needed to. Even though we got some big waves inside the boat (rare occurrence due to the weather that day) and therefore got soaking wet, we still felt totally safe and had a great time. You may want to plan for a bit of sea spray w/ a light jacket but getting drenched is not usually how it goes. Everyone on our trip kept a great attitude about it and we had tons of laughs and beautiful photos.

It is on a sailboat. The food was marvelous. The main courses including the salmon and the lamb were outstanding! My husband, an avid sailor was allowed to steer the boat and he was in heaven. The sailing portion was about 15 miles and one hour and we were able to see the lights come on in the city.

AKL-20 Flying Fox Zipline & Native Forest Walk Experience
My first time on a zip line and I'm so glad it was here! The location is beautiful and the staff are friendly and fun. They pick you up for the ferry port at Matiatia Wharf and take you back! The first line is over a vineyard, then second over a lot of ferns and then the third over the old growth forest. They're all dual lines so you can go at the same time as your partner. Definitely take walking shoes as there is a bush walk afterwards. Fortunately they provide sun block as I forgot mine. I would definitely recommend this trip, I had so much fun!

Loved it! The spectacular views, great hospitality and the zip line is just the best. It is a great way to ease into the adrenaline fun to be had in NZ. The safety instructions are really well done and helps to make you feel at ease with the adventure. The zip line runs are fantastic, and I wish there were more, I could have done it all day. The forest walk back up was beautiful and it was great to see such passion for the environment. This is a must for all ages and you don't need to be an adrenaline junkie, it is just great fun. 10 out of 10!

AKL-22 Essence of Waiheke Wine Tour
Worth it for the island alone. We had researched this in great detail so knew what to expect but we were overwhelmed by Waiheke island and the views. Admittedly we deliberately chose a day with a good weather forecast but the island is wonderful. The wine tasting tour is a good way to see this and is a pleasant trip. Mudbrick is by far the best of the tastings because of the location and the enthusiastic guide. There were good contrasts between the locations; at the third we had time to sit and chat with our fellow visitors, some from Queensland, others from New York. We asked to be dropped in the village at the end of the tour and prolonged our stay on the island, our tour tickets covering us for the local bus back to the ferry. We liked the manner of our tour guide, just enough detail, not pushy, open to chat if required. All in all a really worthwhile day.

AKL-26 Full Day Auckland - Rangitoto Island Kayak Tour
Amazing view - I did a sunset tour to Rangitoto Island with my adult son in a twin seater kayak. I chose him because he was bigger and stronger than me in case I wasnâ€™t up to the approximate hour paddle each way. I neednâ€™t have worried, it was quite easy and I think the majority of people would say the same. Good company and a good BBQ and amazing views of Auckland and Rangitoto Island at dusk and night.

Fantastic trip to Rangitoto - Great trip and guides were good and cheerful. We were picked up from the city next to the pier which was super convenient. It was a great trip, all the kayak set up was explained clearly and we had a good fun atmosphere on the hike. The BBQ was a great addition to the activity and food was delicious. Great afternoon and evening activity if you like outdoors activities. Just be aware it's a hour kayak each way and then an hour hike for the sunset. Defiantly worth doing the trip, great fun!

BOI-F1 Hole in the Rock Scenic Helicopter Flight
The original plan was to fly to Cape Reinga - but unfortunately the weather had changed for the worse and there were thunder storms etc predicted. We were offered an alternative tour with the Helicopter Flying over the Bay of Islands and then landing on the â€œHole in the Rockâ€ what a mind blowing experience. Flying over the Bay of Islands our pilot Daniel spotted a pod of Orcas (6 in total) - what a bonus. Landing on the â€œHole in the Rockâ€was an experience in its self. Absolutely brilliant and well worth it.

DND-3 Scenic Dunedin - Volcanic Hills & Beaches
Great trip with Glenn. There were 9 of us in a mini van. Lots of leg room. Glenn is a great driver and tour guide. He knows his history, botany, birds, and sea life. He quietly arranged for 2 sea lions to be on the beach to pose for our cameras. I highly recommend this.

Super accommodating! We arrived on a cruise ship that really messed up the arrival and wouldnâ€™t let us off the ship! We were an hour late meeting Kim, but he worked with all of us and ensured a great trip. We did much more than a half day of his time! DND-13 Dunedin City Sights with Larnach Castle
I just returned from a great tour with Alan as our guide. It was a small group of only 3 travelers. Alan showed us his city, with tremendous knowledge and kindness. We drove all around the city, along the Otago university and its campus grounds. We went to the Dunedin Grand Railway station, up to see the steepest street in The world, Baldwin St. we visited the Dunedin botanical gardens then we went to the Larnach Castle, and had lunch and toured the castle. Alan was extremely knowledgeable about the castle and its history. We toured the grounds, which are lovely. It was a beautiful day and the tour was great.

PIC-1 Magic Mail Boat Cruise
A trip with the mailboat is a must do if you're in Picton and the weather is nice. We took the trip to Furneaux Lodge, where we went ashore. Then we walked to Punga Cove where we were picked up again by the mailboat. On our way back to Picton we even encountered some dolphins. Both captains gave good info about the sounds and wildlife we encountered during the trip. We also made a small detour to see a salmon farm in action - with seals waiting for a free meal! This trip is a nice way to see more of the Sounds and hike a part of the Queen Charlotte track as well. Well organized, friendly staff and well worth the money!

In early March I was in Picton and didn't want to miss an opportunity to see the Marlborough Sounds Helped by a warm sunny day , it was a superb afternoon out Interesting to see the mail still being delivered by sea , the captain knows most of the residents by name We dropped off mail at a very exclusive hotel for the rich and famous , but Im no good at identifying movie stars ! Saw lots of dolphins , who were loving playing by the boat , which was a real bonus Visited Ship Cove and the Captain Cook Memorial , lovely spot Free tea and coffee included , a generous touch , lovely afternoon out , I would certainly go again

This is a unique and fun experience if youâ€™re thinking about taking a cruise through the Marlborough Sounds. Lucky us, we enjoyed a very sunny day out on the water. After ten minutes on the boat we encountered a huge group of happy dolphins, this was already one of the highlights of this trip! And it just got better and better. The sounds are amazing, views were stunning and the fact that youâ€™re also doing something for the people who are living here (aka delevering their mail ;-) makes the whole thing a unique experience. Happy dogs are waiting for you (and their treat), while you sail through bright blue water surrounded by green islands. Sometimes we had the feeling we were somewhere in tropical Asia in stead of NZ! This cruise was absolutely a highlight during our 6 weeks trip through New Zealand, highly recommended.

Great Cruise! The day was warm and beautiful, which helped but it would not have mattered - This was a wonderful 3 1/2 hours. The Captain was knowledgable on all sorts of fun facts. The dolphins chased our boat just for a play. We also saw penguins and seals.The vessel was very clean and tidy and easy to get around. Remember the jacket though - it is a bit cooler on the water. The office staff are helpful and happy. It is great to see that the regeneration of the area back to native is taken very seriously

We took the Sunday afyernoom cruise from Picton. The boat was very comfortable. The girls in the office were really friendly and Julian our skipper was great and had a huge amount local knowledge which was really interesting. The cruise had 2 stops where you could go ashore for a walk around and coffee/tea was provided. The Marlborough Sounds are an absolutely beautiful part of New Zealand that we would highly recommend anyone visiting the area to have a cruise around. Beachcomber cruises also do a mail run delivering mail to all the homes in the bays- this cruise would also be a fun way to see the sounds.

Thanks Brian. We weren't sure what we wanted to do other than geothermal activity. Brian recommended Waiotapu - great choice, we loved it. He also recommended Huka Falls at Taupo - again a great choice and lastly a kiwifruit orchard. Brian was polite, considerate and quickly understood our needs. I would use Shore Trips and Tours again
